This rug is inspired by an elegant Japanese gift cover or Fukusa, originally made in silk and metallic thread, held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Throughout Asia, the crane is regarded as a symbol of longevity and good fortune. The many expressions on this flock of flying cranes have been expertly captured and knotted in golden silks on a deep blue ground, adding interest and humour. This rug features an intricate pure silk design on a robust handspun wool ground. It has a fabulous silky sheen that will lighten your room and is soft and cool to the touch.
